Jonathan Morgan
Senior Software Engineer at Super.com
Miami, Florida
Summary
Self-taught senior fullstack engineer with seven years building production software across e-commerce, subscriptions, and payments. Comfortable owning a problem end-to-end — backend services, frontend interfaces, integrations, and the unglamorous glue in between. I tend to gravitate toward the load-bearing, strange-shaped work that nobody else has time to pick up.
Experience
Super.com
May 2021 – Present · Miami, FL
- Senior Software Engineer — Jan 2025 – Present
- Software Engineer II — Jan 2023 – Jan 2025
- Software Engineer — Sep 2021 – Jan 2023
- Junior Developer — May 2021 – Sep 2021
- Designed and shipped a custom billing engine integrated with the company's payment hub (the gateway to multiple payment processors) and existing subscription service, replacing a vendor whose lock-in had been quietly setting roadmap. Transition was seamless for customers and largely invisible to the rest of engineering.
- Built an in-house reward decisioning and event-processing layer to replace a third-party SaaS tool that was both capacity-constrained and hard to extend; rules now live in the codebase instead of someone else's UI.
- Built a new subscription onboarding funnel and became the go-to engineer across teams for subscription-shaped work.
- Owned engineering for the e-commerce vertical through its wind-down — managing stability investment and lifecycle tradeoffs against a finite runway.
- Joined the engineering team after Super.com acquired Daily Steals; picked up React on the fly in production after a Python-heavy background.
Daily Steals
Sep 2018 – May 2021 · Dania, FL
- Junior Developer — Sep 2019 – May 2021
- Customer Service Representative — Sep 2018 – Sep 2019
- Self-taught Python via Coursera while in the customer-service role; identified workflow gaps and built a Flask-based internal tool that the rest of the team adopted, transitioning into a full-time developer role.
- Expanded the tool over 18 months to cover the team's full workflow: integrations with every third-party service in the stack, auto-generated vendor emails, returns and refund processing, inventory updates, and a decision-logic layer that automated routine triage.
- One automation eliminated the need for a dedicated role (person was shifted to other work). Company was subsequently acquired by Super.com in 2021.
Prior experience (2011 – 2018)
Customer-facing and operational roles across hospitality, retail, and travel — including Shift Supervisor and Barista at Starbucks (2013–2017), Assistant Manager at The Alchemist (2018), Ticketing Agent at House of Travel of Miami (2018), Sales and Stock Associate at Abercrombie & Fitch (2012–2013), and Shipping & Receiving Clerk at Kiss and Makeup (2011). Together they shaped the customer-empathy and operational sensibility I still bring to engineering work.
